Many firefighters have found themselves in dangerous situations as a result of rapid changes in weather patterns leading to unpredictable fire behavior. These weather events are often foreseeable through local weather data and forecasts; however, frontline firefighters have traditionally not had easy access to this critical information. The Fire Weather Alert System aims to bridge this gap by providing real-time updates. This system continuously monitors nearby weather conditions and forecasts to alert firefighters of impending hazardous weather. Moreover, it offers convenient access to fire-specific weather data such as RAWS, NWS zone fire weather forecasts, NEXRAD radar data, and more.

  • Monitoring of RAWS/ASOS stations and short-term forecasts through the HRRR model.
